Obituary for Jo-Ann Verdiglione

Jo-Ann  Verdiglione
Jo-Ann Umstot-Verdiglione 63 years old formerly of Aberdeen New Jersey passed away Monday, October 15, 2018. Born in Cumberland, Maryland to Don and Doris Umstot, Jo-Ann was an avid reader and devoted here life to education. She met the love of her life, Ralph Verdiglione, in her early 20’s during her time at Frostburg State University in Western Maryland. Upon their graduation both moved to Brooklyn and later Staten Island where they lived for over forty years prior to moving to Aberdeen, New Jersey to be closer to their son. Jo- Ann was a devoted educator who taught English and was the coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction at St. Peters Boys High School (STP) for over 40 years. Also Jo-Ann was an adjunct professor at St. Johns University where she taught an upper level English course. She also held a position on the NYS Executive Council for the Catholic School Teachers Union. Retired from STP she enjoyed reading, traveling and being with her husband (Ralph) ,son (Vincent), daughter in-law (Jessica), and two grandchildren (Nicholas and Adeline). Jo-Ann is survived by her beloved husband Ralph Verdiglione and her only child Vincent Verdiglione. Jo-Ann also leaves behind her daughter in-law Jessica Verdiglione and her two grandchildren Nicholas Verdiglione and Adeline Verdiglione. Also survived by her brother Walter Davis (Catherine), her sister Katherine Crawford (Craig), Anita Verdiglione (sister in law). In addition numerous nieces/ nephews and their children.

Jo-Ann will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Route 35 Middletown, NJ 07748 on Thursday, October 18, 2018 7 – 9pm as well as Friday October 19, 2018 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Chapel 26 Leonardville Road, Middletown, NJ at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
