Obituary for Alphonse Rescigno

Alphonse  Rescigno
Alphonse (Alfred) Rescigno also known as “Poppy” 87 passed away peacefully at Lourdes Medical Center on April 29, 2018. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 25, 1930. After graduating High School he met his wife Rosemarie. Alphonse was a hard worker his whole life. He worked at N.Y.R.A and owned a family Italian restaurant. He also had a passion for horses and the track; he spent most of his summers up in Saratoga.

Alphonse was predeceased by his parents Anna and Pasquale Rescigno as well his sister Camela D’Angelo and his grandson Richard J. Cagnoni Jr. He is the loving husband of his wife Rosemarie Rescigno. He is the devoted father of Nina and her husband Richie Cagnoni and Pasquale (Patty) Rescigno and his wife Diane Rescigno. Alphonse is survived by his grandchildren Dayna and Sean Bailey and Alicia, Alphonse, Rebecca, Patricia and Jonathan. He is also survived by a great grandson Lucas Richard as well as many nieces and Nephews. Alphonse had many joys in life; he enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City, loved the N.Y. Yankees and Giants, and listened to Frank Sinatra. In his youth Alphonse played baseball as a short stop for House of David and his favorite player was Phil Rizzuto. He was a joker and kidder in his own way and loved meeting people. He was also a big fan of the National Geographic channel. Above all his joys it was his family that made him shine brightest. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Alphonse will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Route 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Thursday May 3, 2018 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is going to take place Friday May 4, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Chapel. Entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery.
