Obituary for Bruno Salamunia

Bruno Salamunia
Bruno Salamunia – 69 of Port Monmouth passed away on Wednesday January 31, 2018 after almost a yearlong battle with lung cancer.

Bruno was born in Germany at the end of World War II, but came to America as a young child and grew up on Staten Island where he graduated from Port Richmond High School

Bruno served in the Air Force and did two tours of duty in Vietnam. While in the service he was trained as an electrician engineer and returned home to work for NJ Bell. After working for NJ Bell he eventually worked for Verizon for 36 years. In 1972 he met the love of his life Peggy Lasek and they married a year later and moved to Port Monmouth to raise their two boys.

After his retirement in 2001, Bruno became active in the local Senior Center, meals on wheels, the local chapters of the VFW, American Legion, and the Vietnam Veterans Associations. Before Vietnam he was an avid swing fan, and keeping up with technology, as well as Doo Wop music. He also rescued a Scottish Terrier.

Bruno is survived by his wife Peggy of 43 years. Son Keith (Victoria) of Roselle Park, Nichols (Veronica) of Jacksonville, Fl, and Sister Lillian of Ohio, along with many nieces and nephews.

Bruno will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home at 1735 Route 35, Middletown, NJ 07748 on Monday February 5, 2018 from 4 – 8pm. Prayer service will be offered at the Funeral Home Monday night. Please make a donation to the ASPCA in Bruno name
