Obituary for Dominick Gulizio

Dominick Gulizio
Dominick Gulizio born May 28, 1964. After a long battle with cancer God took him home on January 27, 2018 from the loving arms of his wife to His embrace. Dominick was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. He was born in Brooklyn New York and at the age of 14 moved to Middletown New Jersey. He graduated from Middletown High School North in 1983. After working with his father in printing, owning his own deli and working as an electrician, his career then took him to the Middletown Township Board of Education where he worked for 17 years. During those 17 years he was a member of the Teamsters Local 11 Union. From there his career path led him to becoming the Chief Engineer at the Sheraton Hotel in Eatontown, NJ where he worked for the 4 years prior to his diagnoses. It was while working at the Board of Education where over a cup of coffee, the girl across the street became the love of his life. Upon realizing they were soulmates, they married. He was a wonderful husband, father, step-father, and grandfather. Dominick was a very selfless person. He always put others before himself and did what he could to put a smile of the faces of those he loved. He loved surprising his wife in the mornings with little love notes on the kitchen counter or walking in the door after a long day at work with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. As a father, step-father and grandfather Dominick was a loving, support and active role model in each of their lives. He was so very proud of them and their accomplishments. When Dominick was with them you could see the warmth in his eyes. Dominick enjoyed such things such as hiking, fishing, camping, and wood crafting. He enjoyed spending summer days out in the yard with his wife listening to music, gardening and just tossing a ball around for the dogs. Above all his greatest time was always being spent with family. He truly, truly, truly loved his family who loved him in return. Dominick leaves behind his broken-hearted wife, Florence Gulizio (DeSantis), his sons, Christopher, Michael, Ryan, and Anthony, his step-sons, Colby Kasaba, Ethan Kasaba and Gavin Kasaba, his grandson, Michael Gulizio, his brother Salvatore Gulizio and his wife Laureen (Laurie), his father-in-law and mother-in-law Tony and Joyce DeSantis who he fondly called mom and dad, his brother-law-in Anthony DeSantis and his wife Stacy, his sister-in-law MaryJo Forte and her husband Anthony and many nieces and nephews: Taylor, Torie Lyn, Alyssa, Anthony, Alexa, Christopher, and Joseph. Dominick is predeceased by his parents, Philip Gulizio and Marie Gulizio (Massaro).

A funeral mass is being held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Chapel in Middletown New Jersey. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to his wife Florence.
