Obituary for Jean Basile

Jean Basile
JEAN BASILE (1918-2017)

Born Jean Enrico on December 27th, 1918 in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY, Jean was the eldest of 3 siblings, including brothers John and Danny Enrico (both pre-deceased). As a result of her mother’s passing at a young age, Jean incurred the responsibility of raising her younger brothers during the Depression. Her brothers, John and Danny, would go on to success as, respectively, a restaurateur and an engineer. Jean worked in the garment industry in New York City before meeting and marrying Frank Basile from Union, NJ in 1945, after Frank returned from serving in WWII. From then on, Jean would be a NJ resident for the duration of her life, while working in various industries, as well as volunteering for various causes, including political campaigns. Upon her husband Frank’s death in 1974, Jean would venture into the Travel industry where she would journey throughout much of the United States. She resided in various areas of New Jersey over the last 40 years, including Jackson, Lakewood, Howell and, for the last 6 years, as a resident of Arnold Walter Nursing Home in Hazlet. She is survived by her daughter (Joanna Camporeale), her grandson (Damiano Camporeale), granddaughter-in-law (Judith Alvarez) as well as many nieces and nephews. A private memorial event will be held in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY in early 2018.
